Babette's Feast (Film)
Babette's Feast is a 1987 Danish drama film directed by Gabriel Axel. The film is set in 19th century Denmark and tells the story of two deeply religious elderly sisters living in an isolated village with their father, who is the honored pastor of a small Protestant church. They take in a French refugee from the Franco-Prussian war, Babette, who becomes their housekeeper and is happy to work for no pay. 14 years later, Babette wins a large amount of money in a lottery.
